According to the statistics shown by a reliable website, The Maze Runner’s movie box office has reached up to 150 million, little exceeding Now You See Me. This movie was popular with teenagers, while got an ‘A-‘ from Cinema Score. The movie is the director, Wes Ball’s maiden work. And it is based on a novel written by James Dashner, an American scripter. It’s seems that the movie is not so adult according to the material, but it has great actors and actress. Kaya Scodelario who performs leading actress has lots of experiences, as well as Dylan O’Brien and Thomas Sangster.
A boy named Thomas wake up in an elevator, with nothing remember except for his name. As he climbs out of the elevator, he reaches to an unknown world--The Glade. This is a place where surrounded by huge high stones which protect them from the attack of monsters outside and make them lost contact with other people. Thanks to the wall, 50 guys live there safely. However, the peace hasn’t last for long for the first girl, Teresa, came with a piece of paper grabbed in hand, telling them ‘none will be sent’. From then on, maze has a great change which makes everything be in a dreadful mess. Thomas and Teresa with a gang of people make up their minds to get out of the maze and find out the frightening secret that undiscovered.
The most depressing scene is that Thomas go into the maze with Mino and injured Alby, chased by a mechanical spider. The spider is finally trapped in vines. While it is attempting to free itself, Thomas, running after Mino, escape into a long corridor which starts becoming narrower and narrower. Mino succeeds running through it, but the spider suddenly appears just few miles after Thomas, trying to tear him into pieces. Fortunately, they survived.
Generally speaking, I don’t like this movie. It’s full of bug and main characters always have the protagonist aura. Everyone in the movie except for Thomas and his group is defined as an idiot without curiosity. They will never ask questions like us. They never want to go out. And how can Thomas be the leader when Gelly is there and keeps him away from being the leader? When he ran into the maze, his
punishments are the faintest. When Alby die, Thomas rush to him and listen what he say. It should not be Thomas, It should be Gelly, he is the continuator. When little fat die, Thomas couldn’t help crying. What’s wrong with you? Are you insane?? You only know him for a month, a few days, and he didn’t do anything for you. And you cry for several minutes!! You do that for wasting time?? Most importantly, 3 years ago the program started, every month a boy would be sent here, which means at least 36 , at most 48 boys were sent here. Within 3 years many of them were died. But it still remains 50 boys. What the hell is that? According to the reasons, the movie is terrible. So I hate it.
