Contrary to the very popular belief that people who have suffered from hardship in their lives have stronger personalities, some researchers claim that hardships can be very misleading. As far as I am concerned, hardships cast negative influences on people’s lives.
Firstly, people who suffered from troubled lives are easily misled. It’s found that while some people may indeed become more “hard-nosed” through adversity, the majority become less trusting of their own judgment. It surprisingly found that early negative experiences make people stronger in late life. Furthermore, the people who had experienced an adverse childhood and adolescence were more likely to come to believe information that is not true. Those people were more suggestible, and easily misled which in turn could affect their future.
Secondly, hardships cause pain and misery to people. When faced with adversity, people can easily get pessimistic and depressed due to the distress and agony brought by hardships. Some families end up in divorce and some depressed people even commit suicide or social crimes. This undoubtedly will bring about a series of problems to society at large.
In conclusion, hardships have direct adverse effects on both people’s mentality and their perception of reality. Therefore, in my opinion, they are absolutely not necessary in life.

We live in a world full of competition. And the examination is one of the tools to exam whether we meet the standard or not. If we want to enter the key university, we have to get high marks on the College Entrance Exam;if we want to have a good job, we will go through a series of interviews and tests; If we want to drive a car, we have to pass the driving test. Some people complain that there are too many exams in our lives, and these exams cannot truly or fully reflect a person’s ability. Unfortunately, our fate and future are depending on these exams. We cannot avoid them.
It’s true that the examinations can only test what we remember instead of what we know. A student with a good memory may find it very easy to get high marks before the examinations. All he needs to do is to remember the knowledge from the textbooks. In this situation, it’s quite unfair to evaluate the students only through exams. What’s more, some unexpected accidents may happen to the students such as a high fever or a sudden headache; this will affect the final marks. Since no one can performs stable all the time.
Sometimes, luck plays a vital role in the examinations. The student may guess an answer right although he doesn’t work hard on the course. If the student has a good handwriting, he may get higher marks than others. There are many subjective factors that may affect the outcome of the exams.
In a word, it’s not enough to use exams to evaluate the students. If the schools want to assess the students, they should use different ways. Only in this way, the result may be fair.
Is Failure a Bad Thing?【精】
Is Failure a Bad Thing?
It is quite usual that one meets failures, for one's life can never be plain sailing. However, diffhrent people hold diffhrent attitudes towards failure. Some people think it a heavy blow to fail in achieving something and they can not endure failure. When they meet failure, they will be seriously dejected and can never pluck up their courage to try again. However, others think it natural to meet failures in one's career. Therefore, they are psychologically prepared. When they meet failures, they will not be frustrated. Instead, they will continue to meet new challenges. As to me, I'm in favor of the latter view. Failure is really a terrible thing but it is also the mother of success. If one draws lessons from failures, in most cases he will get success in the future. Furthermore, one's life can never be smooth sailing; it must be full of difficuhies and setbacks. If one is daunted by difficuhies and frustrations, he will always be a failure. However, if one holds a positive attitude toward failure, he will overcome difficulties and frustrations to win victory.
A habit is any action that we have performed so often that it becomes almost an involuntary response. If we consider this habit to be undesirable then we may label it a "bad habit". People spend countless hours and dollars each year attempting to break these bad habits and often do not have any success. Why? Because there is no magic bullet. Change is hard work and there is no short cut to achieving it. The steps a person needs to take, however, can be very simply outlined. To effect a change in habits, one needs to bring the action back into the realm of consciousness and regain the ability to make choices.
What's the payoff?
The first step in breaking a bad habit is to look at why you find this action so compelling. In other words, what's the payoff for doing this seemingly negative thing? Since you've already classified this as a "bad" habit you may be tempted to say there isn't one. But look closer. There is always a payoff. Let's say your bad habit is yelling at your kids. What's in it for you? You let off some steam and feel a little better for the moment. Or you have a bad habit of leaving the dishes unwashed? The payoff could be that you get to spend more time on the Internet!
What's the trade off?
Next, take a look at the trade off. What is it that you are losing by exercising your habit? This step should be easier. Just think why it is that you consider it a bad habit in the first place. Yelling at your kids is a bad habit because it leaves everybody feeling tense and tears down your children's self-esteem. You are trading a temporary release of tension for the emotional health of your children. Leaving the dishes undone is a bad habit because your kitchen is a smelly mess. To have more Internet time you are trading off having a pleasant living environment. When you look at it that way it doesn't seem like you are making very wise choices, does it? There has to be a better way.
Now that you've weighed both sides of the issue--your payoff and your tradeoff--it's time to make a choice. It's no longer an involuntary act because now you know that you are making a choice every time you perform this action. You are choosing what you value more: the payoff or the tradeoff! Each time you start to do whatever the bad habit is now you have to actively choose. Which do you value more? Do you value more the relief you get by yelling at your kids or do you value their emotional well-being? Do you value more having more Internet time or having a pleasant place to live?
Substituting better behaviors
The whole reason you formed your habits in the first place is that they filled a need. You had tension that needed relief or you had a desire to surf the Net. As you break the old patterns you still need a way to fulfill these needs. You will be not only making an active choice to not do the old action you will also be making a choice to perform a better, alternative action in its place. Instead of yelling at your kids you might decide to go for a run every time you are feeling tense. Instead of letting dirty dishes pile up you may decide to use paper plates when you are eating alone. What the new habit is that you substitute isn't so important as whether you feel good about the choices you have made. After all, the reason you consider it a bad habit is because it leaves you feeling bad about yourself.
It's up to you.
By now you should realize that the only way to continue with a bad habit for very long is to sink back into denial of why you are doing it in the first place. Each time you begin to resume your old patterns the thought will pass through your mind that you are trading X for Y each time you perform that action. You will be forced to make a choice, whether good for bad, about continuing your habit. What choices will you make? The one that makes you feel bad about yourself or the one that makes you feel good? It's up to you.

Manypeople, including some college students hold the opinion that it’s no use tocome to college which is a waste of time. Students cannot learn what they needin their future work. So why do we study hard for the college entranceexamination and get to a better the college?
It’sa common phenomenon that students consider the college entrance examination astheir destination in learning career. They don’t pay much attention to theircollege study. So do I. I couldn't fall asleep the night when the collegeentrance examination was over. I didn’t know what I should do tomorrow. Mainlybecause I was told that college life is relaxed.
However, obviously, you can choose a hardworking life which makes your life in collegemore meaningful. You can do a part time job in your spare time, you can joinsome associations, or you can study hard in one field, which can benefit toyou. Don’t forget to make full use of library that is the most beautifulscenery in college.
Bea brilliant person. Choose a college life which can help you grow up and withno regret. Certainly, to that kind of students, college study is necessary.

Is the Twitter Assignment Good or Bad?
The freshmen of media department in Nanjing University recently received a rather alternative assignment: they are each other to open a twitter account, and are to be graded at the end of the semester according to the number of followers they get. This unique task has around large attention of the public. There are two voices as the usual. The approvals consider this idea is full of creation. It is good for students to improve their learning ability to promote themselves. And the other voice thinks that it is not good for students’ study and develops good character. I think I will agree with the latter opinion.
First of all, twitter assignment is not good for student to learn the traditional knowledge. Although innovation is important, the whole study should come first. If elevated students by their number of followers in twitter, they will not study hard, even have classes skipped, because they know that it has no business about the score. What they need to do is to make their twitter more attractive. This idea totally break the rule that the purpose students in school. Although they learn the way to sell themselves, they don’t complete their study aim.
Secondly, twitter assignment is not good for students to develop good characteristics. If students receive such special task, they will focus on selling themselves. They will find various ways to reach their goal. Such as, show off, say some extremely words, lies and so on. This means is not fit for students. They may form some negative personalities from it.
To sum up, twitter assignment is a creative way for education, but it is not fit for students. They still need the traditional teaching way to receive education.
My favourite movie isThe Bucket List. When two complete strangers (Carter and Edward) became roommates in the hospital’s ICU,what they were going to do in their last couple of months? Carter made a bucket list that including his wishes such as: witness something really magnificent, help complete stranger on the good, laugh until I cry, but Edward thought his wishes were too weak, and then he added something like “kiss the most beautiful girl in the world, goskydiving, and get a tattoo. After that, both of them tried to complete their wishes together before they die. At last, Carter and Edward both knew what the life was all about---to bring joy to others.
When they traveled to Egypt, Carter told Edward that before people’s souls entry the heaven, thedivinities would ask them two questions: Have you find joy in your life and have you life brought joy to others? Edward can barely answer these questions. However, when Carter died, he realized that he had brought joy to others lives just like Carter did. In the end of the movie, these two good friends lay on the top of the world where they can witness something really magnificent. It’s a happy ending. The film tries to convey a theme that finds the joy in your life. Say what you need to say. When you die, your eyes were closed, but your heart was widely opened.
Nowadays, more and more people like to keep pets, such as the dogs, cats and so on. People keep pets as their families, the relationship they build is deep. Pet is really cute, before we raise a pet, we must think about the advantages and disadvantages and then make the wise choice.
Keeping a pet has many advantages. People can have the pet as their families, they can have someone accompany. It is said that some people feel lonely to live alone, then a pet can drive away the loneliness. What’s more, raising a pet can cultivate a person’s sense of responsibility, because he has to take care of the pet very carefully.
There are also disadvantages. It takes time to take care of the pet, like to feed and wash the pet. The most difficulty thing is to deal with the shit. The one who likes to keep clean is not suitable to have a pet. What’s more, some pets may bite people and brings threat to people’s health.
Keeping a pet is not easy, once we have a pet, we must take care of it very carefully.
Every year, many high school students compete for the colleges and only the excellent ones can enter the A level university. As so many students feel disappointed. Many successful people tell them that degree is not that important. But it is not true all the time, degree is the first factor to be considered when people come to the job market.
People are willing to listen to the inspiring stories from successful people, which can give them the motivation to move on. They will always take Bill Gates as the example to describe the missing of degree still can't stop being successful. It sounds so perfect for those students who did not do well in the exams. They have the excuse for not study, that's terrible.
The fact is that though those successful people did not have educational background, they have talent on something and they work hard to fight for their goals. The ordinary people believe in that lie and give up the chance to fulfill themselves. A good degree is always favorable in the job market, so don't give up fighting.
